Our Story

How it all started

I started my plumbing career in 1991 as a helper for a local plumbing company. As the years grew I worked for several companies working on a variety of projects. My goal was a plumbing license which would give me more freedom to work on projects I liked and better wages. Eventually after a lot of hard work, long hours and filling my brain full of plumbing knowledge I got my plumbing license. I worked in many different plumbing fields before starting my very own plumbing business so I had a good idea of what I would be up against.

Cheyney Plumbing was started in the third quarter of 2000. Started with one man, a truck and some tools we soon grew. In the beginning we did all service work, then grew into doing remodels and eventually into new construction. Employees were hired and more vehicles were needed. The company grew to plumbing several new construction homes a month while also handling remodel and service work. After ten years as a contracting company the decision was made to close our contracting doors. Why? You might ask. The state of the economy caused the down fall of a lot of good contractors out there and I became one of them. There are other factors in our company giving up its contracting license. The state I live in charges extremely high taxes and employer rates to small businesses. The state also requires all contractors to carry insurance and bonds with no regulation on costs so insurance companies take advantage of the customers who have no choice but to pay inflated prices.

As the company has evolved our presence in the world wide web has also grown. We have also been very active with this web site and on the world wide web since 1999 and plan on a expansion of our company using the internet and its available features. The company is currently operated by the owners and solely by the owners. We are also owners of a web development company so we plan on bringing our knowledge of internet technology to help educate people on plumbing. We do all the work on-site, in the field, in the office and direct contact with the customer/contractor. All plumbing consultation and instruction on installation and services are done by us and by doing all the work ourselves from start to finish we can offer a high quality plumbing consultation service for very reasonable rates.
